

The lake was once known as
"Woodpecker Lake", a
translation from the Cree
name Hmi-hmoo, but by 1858,
the name Pigeon Lake was in
use.
Now available - a 3-section Riparian Plant presentation full of pictures from around our lake. (Attain via PLWA website). Section 1 – has 2 parts. 1) Explains the value of healthy riparian areas / shorelines. 2) Presents our Pigeon Lake native trees & shrubs. Section 2 - Showcases our native wild flowers. Section 3 - Introduces our weeds, ways to deal with them and links to sites such as the AB Invasive Weed Council for more information.
